This is a light, slightly faded version of the mid '60s Pelham Blue finish that was occasionally used by Gibson on SG's, 330's, 335's and Melody Makers. It was also even less often used on Epiphone models like Olympics and Casinos.
This finish is a single component acrylic paint. It allows to apply the colour in a very even way, giving a spectacular metallic appearance. Its important to finish the applied coat with a clear polyurethane or nitrocellulose finish over it, to protect the plating and add depth.
